Historic Castle with View

Barattano Castle is an impressive and charming property in an equally charming setting. The view from the pool of the Umbrian countryside is breathtaking. And who can claim to live in a castle from the 13th century? Fabrizio is a very friendly and helpful man and you can tell that this kindness comes from his heart. A power outage surprised us one day. But here too, technicians were at work immediately and fixed the problem. Overall we were very satisfied.

Of course, at first glance, the castello looks very great. The charm of the old walls fills you with wonder. The fact that there is a pool with a magnificent view is also very winning. Unfortunately, it is increasingly losing all of this. Upon closer inspection, everything appears neglected and unkempt. Trash is lying around. There have been unwashed dishes in the bar for days. In the room Lurch under all the furniture. The shower stall broken. Kitchenware rather poor. We organized a cutting board and thank God I had a tea towel with me. The place is very quiet and you can definitely relax if the weather is right. The stay in the room itself is rather depressing as it is dark and oppressive. Hardly a loving or inviting detail. It is only bright at night from the outside lights, so you have to close the windows so you don't have the advantage of the cool night. It's a shame, with a little bit of loving care and attention it would be a gem. We will end the stay early, even if the price of €49 per night corresponds to the circumstances. We don't feel well. We didn't notice the Italian hospitality. With armchairs on all tables it was spoiled for us to have our dinner in the small bar. We were always alone there. Really a shame about this place.

This was a gem. Italy at its best! Very sympathetic owners. You imagine yourself in the Middle Ages. We'll be back!

Nice and attractive apartment in a medieval castle, very special! The pool is set in a garden with a breathtaking view. Somewhere in that castle there is also a restaurant where you can sit down. It is not all that bad, but we liked that. The welcome was very warm, there was a bottle of wine ready and some basic necessities (coffee, milk). The area is beautiful, and there are several towns to visit (Spoleto, Spello, Trevi, Assissi). The only pity is that you cannot sit outside at the apartment. With a little effort to realize we thought (we saw it for us .... :)

We had a great time in our own castle. Lots of privacy, welcoming and almost the entire pool for us alleen.muziek pool and ice cream sales. Umbria has much to offer. Beautiful waterfall, Assisi is a must and Foligno a fine shopping center. Poor mobility is not recommended. Lots of stairs and ramps.

What a beautiful setting this anyway. You're really here in rural Italy, where people do something quieter. Vineyards, olive, sunflower and corn you see a lot. Beautiful rolling with distant faces. From the pool you can look right through the valley. The castle is also a separate experience, there are several people living / families. Here are just buildings of 2000 yr, great for lunch on the square (in the shade). The last night we were invited by the lord of the castle together with his family, including grandparents, for dinner. Sit outside under the grape vines. The castle was very difficult to find without navigation. You will be redirected to Gualdo Cattaneo, but it is not in this town but Barratano, 12 km away. When the weather is beautiful, with a lovely pool and a cool apartment, but when it rains and blows it is not so comfortable. also the heaters did not. Each message must be done by car.
