Beautiful view! Cozy and comfortable house. We really enjoyed it. On arrival they had lit the fire because it was a little cooler. We felt very welcome. Very nice hosts. You immediately have a holiday feeling because they only speak Spanish.

We had contact with the managers via whatsapp, because our arrival time was outside the normal times (very late). This turned out to be no problem, they have hidden the key at an agreed place and we were able to find it perfectly. There was cheese, butter, orange juice, milk and bread in the fridge so we could have breakfast the next morning, super sweet! The cottage is very quiet in a beautiful area overlooking el Torcal, across the valley and among the olive trees. It is about an hour's drive from Malaga Airport. The cottage is a bit away from the road, which is also wonderful in terms of tranquility. It is a great base for hiking trips. A car is practical. The house was super clean and equipped with all comforts. The hot water was occasionally difficult, because sometimes the geyser does not start, but opening the window in the pantry helps. The pool was still very cold, but that is normal for this time of the year. It was still nice for a short refreshing dive. The outdoor barbeque is great! Cook a fikkie and then grill a piece of fish (or meat) and eat it outside in the lounge area. Around the house are all kinds of fruit trees, you can pick them. The contact with the managers is easiest if you speak Spanish, they do not speak English. But with google translate you come a long way. All in all a must, we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and the Spanish country.

On arrival, you will drop a bit by car, and the amazing Torcal's backdrop will appeal to the villa and outdoor pool. The beautiful garden and accomodation give every opportunity to sun and shadow upon emergence and demise. Location is very central for day trips in beautiful Andalucia.

A lovely cottage in a beautiful setting! The owners themselves speak no English (their daughter), but nevertheless we managed to make it clear that we were almost there. The house is completely secluded from the road and has no immediate neighbors. So you're really get away. We were met at the house and were given a tour. Halfway through the week we were called again to ask if everything was okay. Because of the cold temperatures in February we had the fireplace every day (there was enough wood on site, for a small fee). There were plenty of towels (including beach towels) and blankets. The kitchen is adequately equipped with a freezer and washing machine. The setting is gorgeous! We have been to El Trigal (mountain with exceptional rock formations, 20 min drive), Cordoba (1.5 hours away), Malaga (45 min drive) and Caminito del Rey (recommended! Do book in advance, 1 hour drive). Keep in mind that you are mostly driving through the mountains making the trip takes longer than you might expect. In the village of Villanueva de la Conception, sitting a few shops (small Dia supermarket, mini hardware store, gas station), but has not much facilities.

We spent a very peaceful two weeks at El Trigal in June with fabulous weather. We had a few trips out to Medina el Azahar (Córdoba), Fuente de Piedra, Antequera and, our favourite, El Torcal. El Trigal is a comfortable home and remains cool inside when it's hot outside. We stayed here 5 years ago and the new owners have made some very good improvements. Only criticism would be with regard to the plumbing in the main bathroom as there was no way of holding the shower head to the wall and an issue with hot water reaching the tap in the wash basin. However the en-suite was fine. Unfortunately we found the pool too cold to use very much despite the hot weather. However we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were sad to leave.
