Holiday Home in Houyet near Royal Castle

We stayed in this house with a group of 12 people. Overall, the house was relatively okay and had a good size and it did not feel cramped at all, even with a large group. However, the house is quite old and clearly needs renovation. One of the heaters stopped working on the first day, which was inconvenient. Since it can get very cold at night, a small heater is needed in every room, but there were not enough heaters provided. The house only has 2 toilets and 3 bathrooms, which felt limited for 12 people. The basement bathroom in particular needs attention. The shower requires proper cleaning and renovation, and the basement toilet needs a complete renovation. The walls in that area appeared to have mold and did not feel clean. Guests are required to bring their own bedding and sheets, otherwise an extra charge applies. However, the mattress covers and sheets already on the beds appeared to be dirty, which was disappointing. On a positive note, the kitchen was well equipped. All appliances worked properly, and we found all the utensils we needed for cooking. The sauna also worked perfectly and was a very nice touch. Another downside is that extra charges apply very easily. Be careful to leave everything perfectly clean, as they charge additional fees even for small things like a cup or plate left unwashed. All in all, the house was okay in terms of space and functionality for a large group, but the condition, cleanliness in some areas, lack of sufficient heating, bedding policy, and extra charges should be taken into account before booking. Still waiting for the gas and electricity charge… might be surprised there too.

I expected more and for a weekend, Friday 4 PM to Sunday 10 AM... is not a weekend for me.

Nice location ... but a mouse trap on site would be handy

Not a very comfortable stay: one of the two boilers didn't really work so 2 of the 3 bathrooms were unusable, which is problematic when there are 10 people. We had not been warned that the water was not drinkable so when we arrived we had to leave urgently to look for containers of water. The bedding is really passable. The chalet cannot withstand the humidity of winter: the walls were damp inside. The place must probably be very nice in summer but in winter it was not an unforgettable experience!

Nice house. Very nice environment. A bit noisy / cramped at times but for us it was not too disturbing, we enjoyed it very much.

Nice house. Clean and well cared for. Only downside is that the neighbors are very strict on noise pollution. Music is not allowed outside even during the day.

Beautiful surroundings, accommodation was fully equipped, old-fashioned and dated but otherwise fine. What has disappointed me the most is that the landlord makes you pay gigantic amounts for things that they experience as not in order. For example; - 30 euros for some leftovers from charcoal in the barbecue, dishes in the dishwasher and waste that was not fully sorted. - 20 euros for washing a number of bed linen. Downright ridiculous that you will be ripped off by the landlord with such cost items, not recommended to do business with this landlord.
