Valley-View Retreat, Malmedy

We had a fantastic family getaway at this apartment! The bubble bath was a real treat after a day of exploring Malmedy, The kids loved playing outside on the terrace while we enjoyed a barbecue, Highly recommend for families!

It was not like in the photos. We found it not very clean. Everyone has a different opinion about it, of course. Because of this, we left a day earlier.

Had a good stay, beautiful surroundings. The cottage itself was okay, but it did need some maintenance.

Overall a nice modern apartment, with a beautiful garden and stunning view and parking space. But it was clear that the apartment was not managed with care. The biggest point of irritation: it was simply not clean. We have never found so much hair in a rented accommodation as here. In particular, the sofa was full of it. Long, blonde hairs, and also hairs from an animal. Furthermore, the apartment could use some renovation: worn paint on the window frames, cracked blinds and fireplace, crooked doors, etc. This is not really what you consider luxury. At the entrance, a overflowing trash can with many flies and a pile of drink bottles. Barely any toilet paper, no indication of where the entrance is, as it is at the back so you don't see it quickly. There was a coffee machine, but zero pods, no dish towel, no bags in the trash cans, the bed at the front sagged, and I only weigh 65 kilos. Bed linen was charged twice. First by Belvilla, then by the owner. Later received a bill for electricity etc., 52 euros while we really had consumed very little. Dead plants at the entrance. There are plus points for the lawn; the robotic mower mowed like crazy, every day again. So the lawn was actually the best-maintained part of the stay.

The location of the accommodation is great, on a slope with a beautiful view of Malmedy. The reception was professional but warm. The biggest downside of this holiday home is the maintenance. The photos on the site clearly date from earlier. Some things (e.g., kitchen cabinets or sofa) need an update. The poor maintenance was bothersome. For example, I don't like pulling hair from a previous tenant out of the shower drain. The bed seems to be a box spring, but actually, there is a board under the mattress. For us, this is a bit too hard to sleep on. Also, be aware of the extra costs afterwards. You not only pay for water consumption (which is correctly stated in the terms) but also for heating this water. A flat rate of €1.30 per person per night is charged for this. We were there for a midweek and paid almost €25 in extra costs, including €10.40 solely for heating water. We have booked many holiday homes, and this is the first time we have experienced this. Anyone booking this holiday home or another in the area should also check the schedule of the Francorchamps circuit. The sound of racing cars or motorcycles can be heard very far away.

Arrived yesterday at the beautiful holiday home. However, there are really some points for improvement..... -After having a bad night sleeping on a Spartan bed with a board under the thin mattress, we woke up broken. Also, the duvet is way too narrow for a double bed. -Nespresso machine leaks extremely (fixed by the owner) -overall shabby impression -the apartment is not clean, this morning we vacuumed, you shouldn't have to do that on your vacation, right? -loose door handle which caused someone to be locked in -kitchen baseboard coming off -incomplete dishes, 4-person house, 3 wine glasses, 3 yogurt bowls (the owner brought an extra wine glass) -fridge rubber loose and dirty
